About the Good News!
The good news is that this “love changes everything” concept isn’t something we invented, or even try to animate from ourselves. It is active and changing us. The Bible calls this good news the gospel. What is the gospel?
God is in the community renewal business. He started the first incarnational ministry when Jesus came to the earth. Jesus entered into the brokenness to mend our relationship with God. He is drawing people to Himself—showing not only what love looks like, but what it feels like as He puts His unconditional love in us.
Apart from Him we are broken and our lives don’t work. Even our best efforts fall apart. When He sacrificed His son for us, everything changed. When He looks at us with total love and forgiveness, and when God calls us His sons and daughters, everything is still changing! God is taking us in and creating a new community, a kingdom.
This kingdom is different than the world. It looks like loving our enemies, caring for the poor, humbling our own significance, giving away our treasure, and treasuring the King.
This is one feeble attempt at describing God’s perfect love. The gospel is best experienced in community. God is at work in the world, and as He opens our eyes to what He is doing, He invites us to join Him.
